The lortab is a narcotic pain reliever that helps moderate to severe pain. Lortab should be used when needed for the pain and taken the way the doctor told you because it could be habit forming. Lortab is also marketed under the names of Zydone, Norco, Lorcet, Anexsia, Maxidone and Vicodin.

Lortab Is A Narcotic Drug

The hydrocodone in the lortab is a narcotic piece of the drug that attaches to the opioid receptors in the spinal cord and the brain. The acetaminophen is a non-narcotic pain reducer that increases pain relieving power. This can also treat dry chronic coughing because it is also an antitussive. The lortab comes from the opium plant and it is a scheduled 11 controlled substance and it has the potential to cause dependency and be abused.

Lortab can come in liquid form or taken orally in tablet form. If the tablet is crushed, chewed or snorted it can lead to overdose or bad side effects. Do not drink alcohol or combine the lortab with any other medicines because it could lead to mood changes and not being able to think right. Don’t take while driving or do other task that requires alertness. Some of the side effects of lortab dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, upset stomach and constipation.

A Tolerance Develops Quickly With Lortab

When taken like it is suppose to be it is a very useful tool in pain relief. If taken for a long period of time lortab can lead up to being tolerant and dependent on it. When you get withdrawal symptoms than can include insomnia, restlessness, muscle and joint pain.
