Opiates and Their DangersThere are so many of dangers of using opiates and the main opiate that is abused is heroin. There is a very large number of people that are abusing heroin in the United States. Heroin is not the only opiate that is addictive and very dangerous. The opiates that are prescription drugs are also abused and the number is rising.

Types Of Opiates That Are Abused

Some of these drugs are Vicodin and Oxycontin which are the main opiates that are popping up on the drug scene. These drugs are just as powerful as cocaine or heroin but they are so much easier to get your hands on. The opiates are so cheap and that is why they can be so dangerous. Some of the users crush up the opiates to snort or put it with alcohol to make the opiate work faster. After you get high on opiates you start feeling depressed, jittery, angry, nervous, heart palpitations and death could even occur.

Opiates Should Be Used As Prescribed

The most widely used opiate is codeine which is made from morphine. The codeine is also found in cough medicines and could cause an opiate addiction just like morphine and heroin can. The patient should use the opiates the way the doctor prescribed it to you and you should never share the opiate with anyone because you could take it one time and get addicted to the opiate. If you are addicted you need to get help and start a program that will help you get off of the opiates. The program should be done in a professional setting where there is trained staff that is trained to help you get off the opiates.
